Bookstock '11 Used Book & Media Sale


Where: Laurel Park Place Mall, Corner of Six Mile and Newburgh Roads, Livonia, Additional Sale Info and Press Room on Bookstock Website

Dates: May 15-22, 2011

Time: Sundays, Noon - 6:00pm, Monday - Saturday, 10:00am - 9:00pm

NCJW/GDS will be staffing the Sale on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Help generate proceeds for our section by volunteering at the sale. It's fun and rewarding!

Volunteer Book Sorting: Will start again in October 2010 for the 2011 Sale.

Dates: Sunday "Colossal Collections":  Oct. 3, Nov. 7, Dec. 12, 2010; Jan. 9, Feb. 6, Mar. 6, Apr. 10, 2011
Every Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 to Apr. 27, 2011.


Time: Sunday Drop-off: 11:00am-1:00pm; Sunday Book Sorting 1:00-4:00pm;
Wednesday Drop-off and Book Sorting 10:00am-2:00pm

      Contribute by helping to sort books for Bookstock Used Book Sale. Bookstock benefits the community by recycling books and provides the community with inexpensive reading pleasure. It also earns funds for literacy programs sponsored by the participating organizations such as NCJW/GDS.

Card Party/Buffet Luncheon
To benefit victims of domestic abuse

Cost: $36.00 per person for members and guests

"Play a hand to lend a hand..."  Bring your own foursome, cards, and mah jongg sets-- and have a fun afternoon, while contributing to a worthwhile cause. Proceeds from the event will benefit victims of domestic abuse.

The "Snowbirds" of NCJW/GDS have planned this program and welcome participation by the entire community. Space is limited. RSVP by July 13th. Individuals may register separately, but please indicate names of others in your foursome when you get to the final payment screen.

      NCJW/GDS'S younger women's branch offers opportunities for social events and hands-on community service, all geared toward younger women (55 and under) and their families. Join us and learn more about National Council of Jewish Women's "Next Generation" and our recent project with a local shelter, Common Ground, founded in 1971 for children in crisis.

Sentenced to Marriage
General Meeting
                            
Join us at our General Meeting for a fascinating movie and meaningful discussion about domestic violence and the issue of agunot in Israel, as well as its effects locally.

Guest speaker will be  Keren Alpert, Rabbinic Associate at Temple Beth-El. We will view the movie "Sentenced to Marriage," a documentary about the extreme conditions of agunot in Israel.
